Pressure on European education and training systems has increased in recent years, with technological and demographic trends reshaping demand for skills and qualifications and making lifelong learning necessary for both individuals and countries.

Changing in Labour Market Needs

Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) provision must respond to rapidly changing labour market needs, and match qualification supply to skills demand. Therefore, improving its quality, relevance, and agility is at the heart of the European VET policy framework 2021-25, which emphasises the importance of international cooperation, learner and worker mobility, and recognition of learning outcomes. Qualifications Must be Relevant

A study published in 2021 concludes that TVET qualifications must be relevant at national and local levels while opening the door to international comparability. [1]

The study goes into methods for analysing and comparing the profile and content of TVET qualifications. The note outlines two main objectives addressed the solutions identified and their implications for researchers and policy-makers. The briefing note concludes that we still find differences between European countries. Therefore, the study supports the implementation of policies strengthening cross-country transparency and comparability of qualifications.
